Kamptal
The Kamptal is one of Austria’s most celebrated wine regions, nestled in the north of the country along the river Kamp. Known for its elegant whites and quietly confident reds, this area benefits from a cool climate and varied vineyard slopes that help grapes ripen slowly, building depth and character in every vintage.
In Kamptal you’ll often find Grüner Veltliner at its best, with lively acidity and flavours that can range from crisp green apple and citrus to peppery spice. Riesling also does very well here, bringing a refined balance and mineral edge that pairs beautifully with everything from seafood to lighter meat dishes.
Red wines from the region, while less dominant, are worth exploring too. They tend to be structured and food friendly, with notes that can include dark cherry, subtle spice and a smooth finish.
If you’re looking to broaden your wine evenings with a region that combines tradition, freshness and genuine variety, the Kamptal range is a wonderful place to start.
