Argentina

The world’s fifth-largest wine-producing nation, Argentina produces a wide range of excellent-value varietal wines (largely red, with Malbec the success story so far but also, an increasing number of delicious whites) across all price points. Since the 1990s it has benefited greatly from an influx of international investment and expertise, and while it has done well to edge its way onto the world stage it still has a way to go before completely stealing the limelight. Competition in international markets from behemoths like Australia or neighbouring Chile mean it won't be a story of overnight success for Argentina. But year on year the wines get better and more and more people fall for the charms of Argentina's structured but oh-so quaffable wines.
