About the Chile
Chilean wine is one of the oldest wine region in the new world dating back to the 16th century when the Spanish brought the vines with them as they moved to this region, the leading grapes are Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere with Sauvignon Blanc getting rave reviews. In the 1980’s the viniculture was vastly improved with the introduction of modern techniques such as Stainless steel fermentation and the use of oak barrels for ageing improved this country’s reputation to what is now the 5th largest exporter and the 7th largest producer in the world.
