Grape vines were first planted in the Hawkes Bay in 1851 by Marist missionaries; their legacy is Taradale’s historic Mission Winery.
Hawkes Bay has since earned itself an international reputation for producing high quality Cabernet & Merlot blends, Syrah, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and an impressive array of aromatic white wines. The warm climate and lengthy growing season also allow for the successful production of dessert wine styles.
