Piquepoul
Piquepoul is a lively grape that has made a name for itself along the Mediterranean coast of southern France, most famously in the Languedoc region. You’ll often find it bottled as a crisp white, with flavours that lean towards citrus, green apple and pear, plus a subtle salty, coastal edge that makes it feel wonderfully refreshing.
What makes Piquepoul especially enjoyable is its balance. Many cuvées are light to medium-bodied, with bright acidity that keeps the wine feeling clean and vibrant, while still offering enough fruit character to drink easily on its own. Depending on the producer, you may notice hints of dried herbs or white flowers, and sometimes a gentle touch of minerality that adds depth.
This grape is a great match for food. Try it with seafood, shellfish and salads, or alongside dishes with herbs and lemon. If you’re looking for a white that’s approachable yet full of interest, Piquepoul is a fantastic choice from the wider grape range, offering plenty of flavour without being heavy.
